Throughout the history one of
the most common art theme is a relationship between males and females and their
interactions with each other. Presented by various painters, sculptors
and described by poets and writers it is also one of the most popular subjects
in nowadays culture particularly in new media like video games. According to
described by Henry Jenkins cultural and media convergence we can observe well
known themes not only in movies, books or theatre but also in virtual world.
The importance of female-male relationship in video games rose substantially in
last few years. Polish CD Projekt Red Studio’s games The Witcher and The Witcher
2: Assassins of Kings are the examples of a breakthrough in presenting
those relations in video game industry. Portraits of women individuals created
in Witcher’s universe and the
intricacy of their interactions with the protagonist Geralt from Rivia is the
main subject of this presentation. Reassuming, the speech will discuss how the
game which is one of the most popular and prized games in the industry,
benefits from the theme which has inspired artists through the centuries.
